wet n wild Megalast

I love new so when I saw the word "new" on a wet n wild polish I thought to myself  "New and inexpensive, I need it!" So I bought two to try out and see if I liked it. The verdict is in and I do!

First off I decided to try out the color Sugar Coat.

A lovely light pink that is just about my skin tone! It is like one shade away from just being white. The polish does go on thin so it took three coats to get shade in the bottle.

The next shade I picked out to try was Dark Side of the Blues.

An awesome dark blue that says "I don't have to wear black to have awesome dark nails." I think it is a nice statement color. The first coat goes on a bit streaky but by the second it was nice and smooth, no need for a third! I love when two coats does the trick! I am really in love with this color, rocking it on my finger nails and toe nails as I type this! I did put some Essie Shine of the Times on my ring finger as an accent.

The brush for this polish is very large, as you can see below I have it next to a standard brush and you can tell it is very different. This brush is very flat there is no roundness at all.

Time for the problems with this product. The only one I really had was the brush. It was to wide for some of my nails. Mostly with my pinky and ring finger, I had a lot of cuticle flooding. Other then that I want to buy every color.

This polish does not seem to last any longer then any other polish I have tried. With that being said that is more then likely due to the base coat I use rather then this polish its self.

Where you can buy this polish:

I purchased this polish at Walmart for under $3. I think you can get it cheaper on the wet n wild  website.

update on Kiss Stick-On Strips for nails

So I grew out my nails and tried Kiss Stick-On Strips for nails again. Having my nails longer helped out a lot! I also applied a top coat this time, it just added some shine.
On a side note I applied these strips for a mini vacation where I was going to be swimming in salt water as well as going to Wet n Wild. I spent more then enough time in the water and the polish has started to pill a bit around the edges but they over all still look nice.

nail-aid ALMOST GEL TOUGHER NAILS!

So I had my nails done a few months ago and went to a new place...worse choice ever! They destroyed my nails! I told them to take it easy and not to file them to thin. I should have made them stop the second he talked to me like he knew what he was doing and I know nothing. Um Sr I know that I don't want my nails filed to the point that they are going to be sore! Either way my fault I should have walked away at that point and did not. Sadly what I was afraid of happened, once I was sick of the nails I took them off and they were a mess! Cracking, pilling and just so thin they hurt. Every time I touched something my poor nails would just fall apart. So I went to good ol Walmart and looked for something to help them out. This is what I found.

Box says:
Result
  • Hardest, strongest nails in just 1 day.
  • Ends peeling, chipping and cracking.
  • Strongest, most beautiful nails.
  • Fills in ridges for smoothest nails.
  • Fast drying, long lasting, high-gloss finish.

Directions: Apply one coat over dry, clean, bare nails. Let dry. apply a second coat. To use with nail color, apply one coat as base coat and one coat as top coat. Remove with polish remover and use every three days.

What do I think about it? I think it works really well. I had been using a clear top coat to keep them from cracking and chipping on everything I touched and it was working okay but not fixing the problem. This product is thicker then a normal clear coat so it helps keep it from peeling for sure! After using this product my nails are not as soft and painful, they are not peeling like they did even with a clear coat. I have been using this for a week now and will continue using it. The only time I have to worry about it chipping and getting caught on anything is when the already split nail grows out a bit.

This product is new and is not on the Walmart site but it coast about $5.

Colors of the Rainbow tag from Youtube.

What you are suppose to do is make a video showing one of your favorite things for each color. I am just going to be using nail polish and taking photos.

The Colors!

Red: China Glaze 182 Ruby Pumps, A dark red polish with red sparkles!

Orange: L.A. Colors Color Craze, A pretty coral orange with a slight sheen to it.

Yellow:  L.A. Colors Color Craze I very bright yellow polish. It looks very muted in the photo but it is canary yellow!

Green:China Glaze 1136 Cast A Spell, This is so dark green it is black but has so many different shads of green and yellow fine glitter that it is green.

Blue: Wet n Wild D 274 Dark Side of the Blues, This color is a bit darker on the nails as well as in the bottle then the photo shows.

Indigo: L.A. Colors Color Craze

Violet: O.P.I. Purple with a Purpose

Pink: China Glaze 872 Pool Party, As I have said in a review on June 21, 2013 it does look more orange on the nails.

Multicolored: Finger Paints Santa's Magic

I love all of these polishes some to use on the whole nail and others to add as accents.

Here are some of my favorite YouTubers doing their Colors of the Rainbow tag! Their names link you to their YouTube channels.

Kiss Stick-On Strips for nails!

Party Girl is the design.

I broke down and decided to buy these stick-on strips for my nails. They were only $3 so I figured if they don't work it wouldn't be to bad of a loss. I mostly like to just paint my nails but lets face it I am no good a designs. I wish I were better and I can do some things but any line work and I just make a mess.

First off I looked at the directions:

  • Prep your nails
    • Clean nails with alcohol. File and smooth nails.
    • Keep strips in plastic sleeve until used.
How to apply

  1. Select size that fits your nail.
  2. Apply near, not on cuticle & smooth away from center.
  3. Fold down over edge and file excess
*To remove gently peel off strip from the side.

First off I knew the stickers would not fit any of my nails. I did end up having to use scissors to cut the excess off and shape the sides which was a bit bothersome. Filing them really didn't work very well because it is a soft sticker and not hard like a nail. I did however file the edges as much as I could. You can see in the photos below that the edges are not very smooth but a bit jagged. I do think with a bit longer nails(mine are super short from where I recently took off acrylics) the finished edges would be a lot smoother.

As for the cost I got mine at the Dollar General for $3. You can also get them at Walmart for $5.97...Go to the dollar store I don't see myself paying $5.97 for these.

Also I am a homemaker so lots of washing dishes and cleaning where my nails and hands get wet. Normally I would wear gloves to protect my nails but I know not everyone is going to do that so did not while these were on to show you how long they would really last. The package says they will "last up to 10 days" mine lasted for two before the edges started to pill back and the color faded away.

The photos below point out the edges that are pilling back on day 3.

Day 3 they still look pretty good and I may keep them on for a while longer.

After 6 days I can not take anymore! I hate for my nails to be chipped in the least, I will take all my polish off if I get one small chip so at this point I am going to call it a day and take them off.

The photos are of day 6 when I decided to take them off.

I think they would work nicely on toes so I am going to be getting some to try it! I will also be growing out my nails a bit and trying again, I will update you guys on how it goes with a mini blog post.

To remove them you just pill them off. There was a bit of the glue stuck on my nails but I just rubbed it off. If need be you could use a bit of rubbing alcohol and that should take it off just fine.

Pool Party by China Glaze

Pool Party is a lovely summer color. When I first purchased this color I was thinking I would have a nice bright pink color. After placing it on my nails I realized it was more of a bright orange! Still lovely but not the pink I had thought.

The color is a dull matte color without a top coat to make it shine however it is not a matte polish.

I put the silver glitter on my ring finger as an accent from my post on June 10th 2013. I used a base polish then two coats of Pool Party followed by a top coat. This polish did chip after a few days.

In the end I still love this polish and use it all the time! It looks so lovely on toe nails because it is so bright! I did get this color a while ago so I am not positive you can still get it. You may still be able to get it at your local store that sales China Glaze!

Baby Lips by Maybelline New York

I love Baby Lips moisturizing lip balm. Its soft and smooth with just a little tint. After using it a few times my lips feel softer.

There are several shades to choose from. These are the three I have.

In order they appear in photos:
Cherry Me that smells like cherries and has no flavor.

Coral Crush that smells like orange peel zest and has no flavor. (My favorite of the three I own.)

Grape Vine that smells like a grape popsicle and has no flavor.

So pretty I love it! Below will be links to the Baby Lips on the Maybelline site where you can order it online aswell as Walmarts website. It is cheaper at Walmart then on the site. Either way it is no more then $4

Benefit Benetint Rose-Tinted Lip & Cheek Stain review

Today I would like to talk about Benetint Rose-Tinted Lip & Cheek Stain.

Size compared to my hand.

I wanted this stain for a very long time but at $30 a bottle for .4 fl. oz. I just couldn't do it. I had tried stains before that just didn't work, they were runny or splotchy and I just couldn't wast $30. Years later I got a package in the mail from a lovely friend for Christmas and when I opened it I was all giggly and super excited to try it out! I have only ever used it for my lips because I have very sensitive skin and don't want to risk a bad breakout. Here are my pros and cons starting with the cons because I would like to end on a good note!

Cons:

  • The price, I am not one who loves to pay that much for makeup. I love make up but I do not have money running out of my ears and neither do most people these days.

  •  If you do not remember to moisturizes your lips before applying it will not go on evenly. I suggest putting on some chap stick before you ever start you makeup and apply the lip stain last. That way it has time to soak into you lips and they will be soft and dry when applying the tint. Also when applying keep your lips closed so the stain doesn't pool on the inside. I use the brush around the edge of each lip then blind it to the center with my finger.

Here are some examples:
As you can see my lips are a bit chapped on the inside, I didnt use any chap stick and you can see how the red all goes straight to the inside of my lips. Adding some gloss helps.
  • The taste is terrible.

Pros:

  • While Benetint is pricey it will last a very long time! I use mine regularly and have for 6 months now and as you can tell from the photos above it still looks full!
  • You can make this product as dark as you want just by letting it dry and adding another layer. In the photos I only added one layer so it is not to dark. In the photo below I have swatches on my arm the first is one layer, second is two and third is three.

  • It last for a long time provided you don't chew on or lick your lips non stop. I never see it on a straw and the only time it comes off is when I take it off. Not to say that after a few hours it hasn't worn off just like any other lip tint or stick I have ever tried but it last long enough to keep me happy.

Those are just a few of the things to keep in mind if you are thinking of buying this product.

Lastly I want to post a before and after photo. These were not on the same day but as I was applying the lip tint I remembered I needed to take a before photo... I did not want to wait for the product to come off completely so I just looked for an older photo with nothing on my lips. The lighting is different and I am sorry for that. Again this is with only one layer of tint so it is not drastic.

Before:

After:

Overall I love Benefit Benetint Rose-Tinted Lip & Cheek Stain and as soon as I run out I will be purchasing this product!

Below I will link Benefits lip stain/tint. They also have Poppy-Pink and Mango both lovely colors! As well as the online store you can buy Benefit at your local Sophera.

I just love this silver glittery polish.

I just love this silver glittery polish.

Fist I started out with a base coat, I used L.A. Colors for this polish one coat. (You can buy this at the dollar store.)

Next I used Pure Ice- no name just silver one coat. (You can buy this at Walmart.)

After that I put one thin coat of Butter London- Fairy Cake.

Finely I used Finger Paints- Santa's Magic.(You can buy this at Sally Beauty Supply)

I finished it up China Glaze- Fast Forward Top Coat.

I kept each polish as thin as possible to keep it from chipping. It lasted on my nails for 6 day then I ended up just taking it off without any chips.
