Starburst nails!

If you like this nail look keep reading and I will show you how to do it!

You will need:

  • base coat
  • top caot
  • white polish
  • Three polish colors that go with one another. I used pink, purple and blue.
  • silver polish
  • makeup sponge
  • nail striping tape
  • tweezers (Not necessary but helpful to remove the tape.)
  • detective nail art star (Also not necessary but I think it looks nice.)

First paint your nails with base coat, after that dries paint your nails white.

Use a makeup sponge like this and place the three colors you have chosen on it.

like so

Make sure the white is totally dry and sponge on the color.

Tip: dab off some of the polish on a piece of paper before on the nails, you don't want it to go on as dark as if you were just painting them.

On another piece of the sponge( I just cut off the end) place one of the colors so you can sponge it onto your pointer finger. Then do the same on the second half for the pinky and thumb.

After all of that drys completely its time to start using the striping tape. This is the brand I use, I got a pack of 10 at Sally Beauty Supply

Take five pieces of tape and place the first two from the base of the nail out to each corner. Then just fill in the empty space in between the first two pieces of tape with the last three. One in a straight line through the center and one on either side. I should have taken photos of each step, sorry. I will remember that for next time.

Note: Remember the order you placed the tape because you will need to remove the tape in the opposite order.

Now its time to bring out the silver polish. paint the nail over the tape. Do not give it time to dry, you want to pill off the tape as soon as possible. If the polish starts to dry and get tacky it will not leave smooth lines.

Note: Here is where tweezers come in handy. Pulling off the tape is such a task with your fingers because you may bump the polish and mess the whole nail up.

Here is what the nails should look like after removing all the tape.

I added a star to pull the whole look together. You can get all types of nail charms at your local beauty supply store.

Finish with a top coat and you are done!
